And they wonder why they are unemployed...

People amaze me. I have a web programming position open and have been receiving resumes for a couple of weeks. I get one from an applicant that looks fully qualified. On it there is an email address for a private domain. Of course, I'm going to look. It happens to be the person's blog. Of course, I'm going to read it. The thing is filled with boasts on skipping work, lying to the boss, and bitches about management. HELLO! Don't freaking give this domain out on a resume - moron.
I get another one that looks great - all the right qualifications. Again there is a site listed - this time as an example of the person's work. Lo and behold, they have a resume posted that looks NOTHING like the one they sent to me, other than the name at the top. There's padding the resume and then there is outright lying. What would that person do if they actually got the job?
Today I got one where the person actually wrote down that he had had 40 jobs and went on to list the fields he had worked in (about a dozen different ones - none of them in the IT world).
Suppose they will run into each other at the unemployment office?

Just a post...

Where is Big Dick? His blog seems to have disappeared. I haven't checked in a few days, so maybe he posted his intention to remove it - if anyone knows, please fill me in.

Today on the radio they were having a call-in opinion poll on whether listeners believe that the media should be embedded with the troops in Iraq. This was prompted by the hoopla surrounding the Marine shooting the seemingly unarmed terrorist.

First of all, the media did everyone involved in this incident a huge disservice by publishing this and then feeding us the details and circumstances in a piecemeal manner. This Marine did the absolute right thing. The bastards are playing possum and blowing up our troops, for Christ's sake. Why should he take the chance?

I'm not sure how I feel about the media being there in the first place. I always go back to the concept that observing a process alters that process. On the other hand, we should see it, understand it, feel it. A more important thing to consider is that pulling out the media, modifying their access, or turning media coverage over the military would fuel a new uprising that the administration was trying to "cover up" what was really going on over there.

It wouldn't matter that it is unsafe - a media team almost got blown to hell when they flounced into a building filled with our troops. It wouldn't matter that according to the returning military men, we aren't seeing the truth anyway - it's all propaganda. It wouldn't matter that they are allowing the general public to become armchair quarterbacks. They would just seize upon the cover up idea and run with it. Sensationalism at all costs.

War is freaking hell, people. People bleed. People die. That is it. No popcorn. No perfectly coiffed hero that dies in the arms of his beloved, only to show up at the premiere flashing a beautifully capped smile. This was a young man, probably scared to death, walking through an enclosed building filled with the enemy. He was facing the same enemy that had pulled the "I'm just a unarmed wounded innocent" just before pulling out a gun and wasting his buddies and wounding him the day before. Now we have the audacity to question his judgment?? I would love to see these assholes go through a video simulation of what these troops are seeing and doing. They would be dead before the joystick got sweaty.

And the race is on...

A new season of Amazing Race started tonight. I really love this show. Already have decided that I can't stand Jonathon and Victoria. She's a wimp and he's an ass. No opinions on the others yet - too early.

Another fine mess...

Yet another fine mess in the Middle East. Oh sure...it all sounds great now. But I'm envisioning weapons inspectors, noncompliance, threats, posturing, terrorist attacks. Those that think this is a war with borders is crazy. The end of this article talks about the Iranian home-grown terrorist group.
Iran has never been a friend to the West. Those who ignore history are doomed to become liberals.

A unique Thanksgiving dinner...

Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans. cranberries and fruitcake — in a bottle? Not exactly like Grandma used to make! What the hell are they thinking??

A new Edwards campaign...

Elizabeth Edwards has been diagnosed with breast cancer. What a tragic thing to find out at any time, but to find out the same day that the Kerry-Edwards ticket concedes is just too much. I feel so badly for her and her family and am hoping for best.

Post election blues...

It's all over. I think I'm going through campaign withdrawal. As much as I was tired of it, something seems wrong without it.

So proud of Iowa - it was close, but we broke out of the rut and voted Republican. And by the way...I have to say that I'm proud of Kerry. Unlike Gore, he took it like a man and exited gracefully. They were preparing to make it ugly and it wasn't. Congratulations gentlemen.

It's finally here...

November 2 - the big day - Election Day.

No more campaign ads clogging up the television - no more rallies - no more debates - no more phone calls. What will we do with all that time??

Everyone get out and VOTE (if you haven't already done so). Be heard, be counted.

...sigh...I will miss those calls from George, Laura, Arnold, and Rudy.
